The 13 acres of woodland are mainly broadleaf native trees with a few Scots pine. The whole area was completely overgrown with brambles but after a lot of clearing the wood anemones and bluebells are thriving.
The edges of the woodland nearest to the house and along the drive have been planted. At the western end of the woods, at the lowest point, we dug out a duck pond in 2007 and in 2008 we built the boardwalk down one side which leads to a summerhouse. We have also planted up a small arboretum on the hillside leading down to the pond and with an avenue of white stemmed birch and other interesting and unusual trees and shrubs.
Above the pond the large semi-circular picnic seat was made from one of our own fallen trees which we had sawn on site.
